What is a furnace (or a whole house) humidifier?

A furnace humidifier is mounted onto the HVAC system in a home to provide needed humidity to the entire home. A whole house humidifier is an appliance for your home that creates the proper level of humidity needed throughout all the home's interior. One of these household appliance increases humidity (moisture) in a single room or in the entire home.

There are various kinds available, like points of use humidifiers, which are commonly used to humidify a single room, and whole house. Then there are furnace humidifiers, which connect to a home's HVAC system to provide humidity to the entire house.

Comfortable humidity levels range between 40-55 percent. But during extremely cold weather, homes often lose humidity to the outdoors and can even drop to as low as 5 percent. This can lead to having a scratchy throat or the occasional electric shock. The dry air can also have repercussions on your health, your furniture, even your utility bill.
